DeWitt Brown travel memoir, 1950
Scope and Contents
The collection contains two folders that contain content pertaining to Brown’s trip from Canada, around the world, and back home to Indianapolis. The first folder is notes from each country or city that he traveled to. The second folder is also about the same trip, but in more of a diary format, with an entry most days. His travels included cities such as Tel Aviv, Paris, Bombay, Hong Kong, and others. The second folder contains more elements of his travels, including extensive writings of cultural aspects such as food, religion, and daily life. This collection is the second printing of Brown’s writings. They are not the originals and are in a typed format. The titles of the works are “Under God’s Footstool” and “The World is Round.”

Biographical Notes
DeWitt Brown was a pillar of the psychiatric community in Indiana. He lived in Indianapolis all his life, except for his time at Indiana University where he got his BA, MA, and MD. He was a member of various clubs, including the Butler Great Books Club. He served as president of the Indiana Psychiatric Society, professor Emeritus at Indiana University, and owned a private practice for 32 years.
