Harold R. Swartz WWI papers, 1916 - 1919
Scope and Contents
Materials related to World War I from Harold Swartz, a Canadian soldier who enlisted to fight in Europe. The first item in the collection is his photocopied 1916-1917 journal in which he writes about his day-to-day activities as a soldier. There are also two copies of paybooks for purchasing items during the war. The collection also includes photocopies of letters from the King of England and the Canadian Major General thanking Swartz for his service, as well as a letter he wrote to one of his friends who was on his way home in Canada. The last items in the collection are photocopies of a scrapbook that contains pictures of what is presumed to be Swartz’s family.
