Scope and Contents
The Sigma Gamma Rho 75th Anniversary Time Capsule includes materials collected by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. members around the 75th anniversary of the Sorority’s founding in 1997. The Grand Basileus (President) Dr. LaRona Morris commissioned Sigma Gamma Rho’s National Education Fund Inc. to prepare the time capsule, which was then presented at a ceremony during the 1997 Boule (biennial meeting) held at Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana. The time capsule includes a variety of materials documenting the end of the twentieth century as well as some documenting the history of the Sorority. According to Sigma Gamma Rho History Bits and Pieces 1996-2000 (released to Sorority members by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority in 2000), the time capsule includes “…pictures, position papers, books, magazines, newspapers, artifacts, significant Sorority memorabilia, and other representative articles from all over the country.” (44) The time capsule is to be opened in 2022 during the centennial anniversary of the Sorority’s founding.
