The Board of Trustees Papers include meeting minutes, letter books, minutes of the Executive Committee and Butler Foundation meetings, reports and other documents pertinent to the stewardship of Butler University.

Scope and Contents This collection contains a variety of materials relating to Ovid Butler, the Butler family, and North Western Christian University ranging in dates from 1818 to 2013. One of the most notable parts of the collection is the original letter book of Ovid Butler from July 1862 to September 1866. In this he copied the letters he both sent and received. Charter and by-laws for Butler University, formerly known as North-Western Christian University and Butler College; also includes documentation of Articles of Incorporation.

Scope and Contents

File contains an original certificate of stock from Cox’s investment in North-Western Christian University (later Butler University) in 1862. He originally invested $100 in stock in the school and wrote a promissory note in 1862 for $33.33. There is also a letter to him dated 1872 from the secretary of North-Western Christian University regarding financials.
