Scope and Contents
This handwritten ledger records the names of Butler University students, faculty, staff, and alumni who served in all branches of the military and the American Red Cross during World War II, 1941—1946. All entries include at least a name and branch of service with most also including an address, rank, dates of service, dates of Butler University attendance or position held, and the name and address of a contact person. Military honors are also noted. For those individuals who were wounded or died in service, a brief description of their service record and how they were wounded or killed is often provided.
