2 copies of “Three Decades of Odes; In Celebration of the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Founding of the Odd Topics Society”, 1967-1997
Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials relating to Butler University’s Odd Topics Society, a faculty only group that met to discuss weird and unusual topics. Most of this collection is comprised of the invitations to attend these presentations and the same bits of newspaper that talked about the society. This collection also contains summaries/reports of the OTS meetings and what was discussed along with a “scroll” that showcases topics that span 20 years. Additionally, there are multiple copies of “decade(s) of odes” that showcase the first, second, and third decades of odes related to the Odd Topics Society. It appears that Howard Baetzhold, an English professor at Butler University, was highly involved in this society and has what appears to be a manuscript about dodo birds included in this collection. He was also involved in creating the odes.
