Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials from the Lloyd, Dawson, and Collins families pertaining to their early lives in Indianapolis and surrounding areas.
This collection is primarily composed of family photographs as well as documents pertaining to significant personal moments (such as weddings, funerals) and autobiographical or manuscript writings. Some of the more notable parts of this collection include an autobiography written by Edward H. Collins and additional writing by Captain George Knapp Collins outlining their family genealogy.
Much of this collection is dedicated to family history through documents outlining the Lloyd, Dawson, and Collins’ family trees and family photographs. The Collins family moved to Indiana in 1866 and became involved in the early communities of areas such as Broad Ripple in Indianapolis. Many members of the family attended Butler University and surrounding colleges in their early years.
