This collection contains materials related to the history of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity chapter at Butler University spanning from 1947 to 2002. Historical Note

Sigma Alpha Mu is a fraternal organization, commonly known as “Sammy,” founded in 1909 at the City College of New York. The fraternity was initially founded as a Jewish organization, working closely with organizations like Hilel, though dropped its religious affiliation and opened to men of all faiths in 1953. The chapter has an international scope with 48 active chapters and is currently headquartered in Indianapolis.
