Beldon Leonard Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection is made up of reproductions of original musical works, many unpublished, by Butler University music professor Beldon Leonard. Leonard, who passed away in 1985, also conducted the Jordan Symphony Orchestra at Butler. The collection includes original works for full and string orchestras, transcriptions and arrangements for string orchestra, originals and arrangements for string quartet, and works for violin and piano and piano solo.

Biographical / Historical
Beldon Leonard was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1908. He played in dance bands while attending the Jordan College of Music. Leonard composed and arranged music for dance and concert bands, was a part of the music faculty at the Thomas Carr Howe High School, and later taught music at Butler University and conducted the Jordan Symphony Orchestra. He passed away in California in 1985.
