Scope and Contents
This collection contains the personal papers of 1935 Butler graduate Adele Pier Meyer. It includes school papers, awards and certificates, documentation of her professional hospital work, photographs, correspondence and greeting cards, and travel ephemera such as postcards, brochures, and packets of “mini-photographs”. It also includes the book, “Laboratory Manual in Biochemistry” published by the Indiana School of Medicine in 1934.

Biographical Note
Adele Piel Meyer graduated from Butler University in 1935 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Her belongings were brought to Butler by Christy Habig, who acquired them after bidding on a steamer trunk at auction. She was unable to locate any of Adele’s family to return the belongings and thought they would be better served at Butler University.

Christy Habig donated this collection to Butler University Libraries in 1988 (Accession Number 1988.001).
Separated Materials
Original archival documentation indicates that Adele Piel Meyer’s high school graduation dress was placed in a separate archival box for safekeeping; however, as of 2023 archive staff are unable to locate it.
