Scope and Contents

This collection contains the works of composer James Mulholland who was also a professor at Butler University. Many compositions were published by his music publishing company, Colla Voce Music, IN. (via Plymouth), in addition to Frangipani, GWM, and Somerset.

The collection includes 119 copies of his compositions, as well as a folder from 1982 about his work on the Faculty Fellowship Report in 1982.

Biographical Note

James Quitman Mulholland is a Professor Emeritus of Music at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is one of the most performed composers of choral music in the world. His compositions appear on numerous choral lists for high schools and are in the selective repertoire of several honors choirs; they have also become standards for university and professional choirs throughout the nation. Mulholland has written music, through commissions and personal compositions, for the treble voice that has allowed women’s and children’s choirs to receive a new experience in choral music.
