This collection contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, and other materials from both Ruth Duckwall Rasmussen Williams and William T. Rasmussen, Butler University students who married in 1946. The materials concern their college years in the 1930s, including extracurricular involvements such as Greek life, music, and education, as well as their professional lives as a musician (Ruth) and a businessperson (William) after graduating from Butler University.

Biographical Note

Ruth Duckwall Rasmussen Williams and William T. Rasmussen were both Butler University alumni who married in 1946. William T. Rasmussen (1913-1963) was significantly involved in the early years of the fraternity Sigma Chi on campus and graduated Butler circa 1935. He went on to a career in banking and has a memorial scholarship in his name at the Lacy School of Business at Butler.

Ruth Duckwall Rasmussen Williams (1917-1997) graduated from Butler in 1939. She was an active member in her sorority, Delta Delta Delta, and was involved in the arts. She sang, danced, acted, and played accordion and piano, and was often involved in musical performances and roles in sorority and other campus events. Major funding for the Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall in Robertson Hall at Butler was provided by her in memory of her parents, Paul Duckwall and Iva Eidson-Duckwall. Her mother was a faculty member of the Jordan Conservatory of Music.
