Historical Note
Shortridge High School opened in 1864, originally named Indianapolis High School. It was the first free public high school in the state. Currently located on Meridian Street, the school is the only public high school in the state that offers an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to all students, which in essence acts as a transdisciplinary program. As labeled on the photobook itself, many of the students would go on to become Butler students and alumni.
