The American Association of University Presidents is a union and membership association of faculty and academic professionals, with chapters based at colleges and universities across the United States.

Founded in 1915 in New York City, the current headquarters of the organization is located in Washington, D.C. The mission of the organization is to advance academic freedom and shared governance; to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education; to promote the economic security of faculty, academic professsionals, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and all those engaged n teaching and research in higher education; to help the higher education community organize to make our goals a reality; and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.

Since the 1970s the AAUP has engaged in collective bargaining, including labor strikes, though not all chapters act in that capacity.
