Historical Note
The Office of University Advancement is in charge of organizing the efforts for people to donate to Butler University. They are dedicated to matching the Butler community’s philanthropic interests with University needs in support of Butler’s mission and strategic direction. They have three key objectives: creating access for all learners, providing an excellent student experience, and enriching communities. The top giving priories currently are for scholarships, faculty, athletics, sustainability, and the Founder’s College. One way people can do this is through various giving societies where membership is determined by the amount a person donates. One such society was the Ovid Butler Society. This was an organization for individuals who contributed $1,000 or more annually in support of the Butler University Annual Fund. The society also served to honor Ovid Butler, the founder of the university, and to inspire alumni and friends to get/stay involved in university affairs.
