Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials relating to the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment at Butler University. This includes institutional data profiles, enrollment statistics, and various surveys. This collection also includes Butler’s evaluation and accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (Commission on Institutions of Higher Education). There are also several materials relating to Butler’s core curriculum. Many of these documents have correspondence connected to their topics. Box 06 is completely dedicated to class notes and essays (mainly from Political Science classes) by Nandini Ramaswamy, who was the former Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.

Historical Note

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) is in charge of collecting and preserving information about Butler University. This includes coordinating departments across the University, sending out various surveys in order to compile data about the University. Additionally, OIRA supports Butler University’s various evaluations, such as student learning assessments, program reviews, and preparations for HLC accreditation site visits, that make sure Butler students are receiving an excellent education.
