Commuter Association Records
Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials mainly relating to the Commuter Association such as resource guides, a commuter handbook, and different publications such as articles from the Collegian (Butler University Student Newspaper) and what is potentially a commuter newsletter. There were also flyers inviting people to events and some pages of the Drift (Butler University Yearbook). Additionally, there are documents related to B.O.W.S.- Butler Out-of-town Women Students. These documents are several copies of their constitution and their application for permission to form a student organization. This is included in this collection because B.O.W.S. was an early commuter organization, although it is undated.

Historical Note
The Commuter Association was an organization whose goals were to increase the participation of commuters in campus events and trying to make information for commuters more readily available. Currently, the Commuter Association does not exist the same way it did back then but there is the Commuter Student Center which provides commuter support and resources. B.O.W.S.- Butler Out-of-town Women Students was an organization that was meant to provide a better social life on campus for out-of-town girls.
