Scope and Contents

This collection contains photocopies and an English translation of a 17th century book about the medicinal uses of herbs, Krueterbuch, by Adam Lonicer, published around 1630. Translation to English from German and accompanying comments are by Werner Seidler, a Butler University pharmacy student.

Biographical Note

Werner Max Karl Seidler was born in Kolberg, Germany in 1920 and later immigrated to the United States, becoming a citizen in 1959. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical studies in 1960 and a Master of Science in 1966, both from Butler University. Mr. Seidler went on the work as a research chemist at Eli Lilly for 33 years. He passed away in Indianapolis in 2003.
