Scope and Contents

Materials collected by Teresa Eppley Kofodimos, a 1984 Butler graduate of the Radio-TV program, which was then a part of the Jordan College of the Arts. As a part of her program, Teresa took piano lessons from Dorothy Munger and two years of organ lessons from Dr. Mallory Bransford. The items include a notebook with Dorothy Munger’s lesson notes, music scores containing Mrs. Munger’s handwritten notes, and a folder with notes by Mallory Bransford, typewritten documents on organ techniques, Dr. Bransford’s evaluations of Teresa’s technique, and music with his handwritten notes.

Biographical / Historical

Dorothy Munger was a pianist and harpsichordist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She received her B.A. in Music from the Jordan Conservatory and later went on to teach at Butler University and the University of Indianapolis. She passed away in 2004 at the age of 89.

Dr. Mallory Bransford received his bachelor's degree in 1934 from Oberlin University, a master's degree in 1936 and bachelor's degree in 1944 from Butler University, and a doctoral degree in 1976 from Walden University. He was the chairman of the Organ Department in the Jordan College of the Arts at Butler University for 55 years. He passed away in 2001 at the age of 89.
