Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection primarily contains poetry written or collected by Bette Richart. It also includes correspondence, several photographs, Richart’s Butler University diploma, and various research and study notes. In addition, the collection holds a copy of “Estranged,” a privately published poetry collection by Richart as well as reviews of her work.

This collection was donated by Allen Huges, a distant relative of Richart. According to his communication, the two shared a “favorite aunt” and often shared family time together. He also visited with Richart during her time in New York. He notes that the collection was primarily complied by her aunt, Richart’s caretaker at the time of her death.
