This collection contains 6 interviews, in both individual and group formats, with audiocassette tapes and transcriptions. The interviews concern Butler University’s Creative Options for Reaching Excellence Program, also known as CORE. The program worked with Crispus Attucks Middle School to educate children in Indianapolis who did not have equal access to education and lived in lower income areas.

Butler University students participated in CORE as tutors to the younger students. In the interviews, students, program leaders, and teachers all speak highly of CORE and how it was beneficial to the Indianapolis community. The interviews were conducted after the program ended after just three years. CORES’s goal was to educate younger students, most specifically in the fine arts through music and the Jordan College of Fine Arts.
