Elvet E. Moorman course and lecture notes, 1872 - 1899
Scope and Contents
This collection includes a notebook from Butler student Elvet E. Moorman. The lecture notes are from classes given by Professor Jabez Hall, a professor of Homiletics and Pastoral Theology. The collection also includes an undated notebook (possibly from 1872) of lectures on homiletics and “the composing of sermons on Christian discourse” by an unidentified Butler professor, as well as a notebook of lectures on literature, logic, and Roman law, also by an unidentified Butler professor.

Biographical Notes
Elvet. E. Moorman was student at Butler College (later Butler University) in the late 1890s. He graduated with a B.A. in 1899, having written the thesis, Comparison of Greek and Latin Christianity; for his M.A. in 1900 he wrote the thesis, Paul’s Theology in the Galatian Letter. It is also unknown when the other two notebooks were written; however, there is a notecard dated January 1, 1872, in the homiletics notebook.
