Small quantity of printed ephamera including a commencement invitation for the graduation of Florence Smock from Butler College in 1913, a pamphlet telling information on Monument Circle, also known as Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in downtown Indianapolis, and a pamphlet on religion and commandments by God.
Butler University 9/11 Memorial Book, 2002
Memorial book containing handwritten notes recording the feelings of students, faculty, and staff as they remember the events of 9/11 a year after it happened. This was offered to students outside of Atherton Union on Butler University’s campus. Students were able to write something with marker and sign it. Many of the sentiments have to do with prevailing through hard times as a country, freedom, and prayer.

Photocopies of newspaper articles mostly about Butler University, written by Thomas A. Hendricks. The articles that have a publisher noticeable were published by The Indianapolis News and presumed to also be published by The Butler Collegian. Much of the articles are related to sports, particularly football. Within the collection, there is also a typed speech that presumably was given at Butler related dinner.

Manuscript entitled “White Petals,” a fictional account of life at Butler College at the beginning of the 1900s. Butler is known as “Christan College” in the manuscript and faculty members are described as the author knew them at Butler. The student characters are all fictitious. An Author’s Note is found at the back of the manuscript. The author, Lucile C. Marshall, graduated from Butler in 1906.

Three-page account of lies that were told about him when he was an undergraduate. Writing this work roughly 50 years after his graduation, he sets the record straight about the rumors that circulated campus about him. The rumors include kidnapping a band student, vandalizing the Persephone statue, and writing an unsavory headline in the Daily Collegian. Bratton is assumed to have graduated from Butler in the 1940s.
